Singer, composer, actor and Gay Rights campaigner.

Jamala is a Ukrainian singerand composer. She performs music that includes elements of such styles as soul, jazz, funk, folk, and electronic. She made her first professional record at the age of nine, only taking a few hours to record the album of Crimean Tatar songs and songs for children.

In May 2016, Jamala won the Eurovision Song Contest with her song "1944", dedicated to the deportation of the Crimean Tatars. The world’s leading media, such as the Guardian, The Washington Post, Le Monde, The New York Times, and Billboard covered this story. BBC, Reuters, Associated Press, France Press, Canal +, Deutsche Welle, Euronews, ARD, ZDF, The Times, Bild, Die Welt, and Stern were all hot on the heals of the success to obtain an interview with the lady herself. Her Eurovision performance has been watched more than 25 million times.

Jamala is signed to the worlds largest music label Universal Music Group. Her album “1944” was released in Europe and a month later in the USA. This release features 12 compositions, 8 in English and 3 in Ukrainian, including the title song “1944”. The USA record has been released under Republic Records, which is a part of Universal Music Group with where her label partners include Ariana Grande, Drake, Florence + The Machine, John Newman, Nickelback, Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd and others.

In addition to music, Jamala is a keen actor. She played the main female role in historical drama "The Guide" (box office number-one film among Ukrainian movies in 2014), and had a cameo in a fantasy movie "Polina" by Belgian Director Olias Barco.

Jamala released 5 albums and 12 official music videos that have been viewed more than 15 million times on Jamala’s official YouTube channel alone. In addition Jamala also has in excess of 337k followers across her social media which is growing everyday along side her ever-growing international popularity!
